I am a Gundersen Lutheran nurse because...

Leah Schild, RN, Surgery
I am a Gundersen Lutheran nurse because of the outstanding commitment to excellence in patient care. Gundersen Lutheran nurses hold each other to the highest standards and encourage quality care that goes above and beyond expectations. As Gundersen Lutheran nurses, we're adapting the latest technology and interventions but it's the underlying care and compassion that really make our nurses so great!

Jake W. Maland, RN, Specialty Care Transport/MedLink AIR
I am a Gundersen Lutheran nurse because I want to provide high-level critical care to a diverse population of patients. I want to be challenged with the opportunity to grow as a nurse in an acute setting by increasing not only my knowledge, but my skills as well. Working in the Critical Care Unit (CCU), for the past two year has afforded me the chance to hone my critical nursing knowledge and skills. It has also prepared me for my transition to Specialty Care Transport (SCT), MedLink AIR's ground unit. In the two years that I have been a nurse at Gundersen Lutheran, I have worked with nationally recognized staff, cared for intensely critical patients, learned from expert nursing staff and been able to give back by being a mentor for student nurses.

Becky Kramer, RN, New Life Family Center, Newborn Nursery
I am most honored to be a registered nurse at Gundersen Lutheran because of the wonderful opportunities I am given. I'm so passionate about the patients I encounter and care I am able to deliver to each and every one. Teaching and learning are two large contributing benefits to the nursing vocation and I feel that as a Gundersen Lutheran nurse I am given a wealth of opportunities to not only continue my education but also enhance my patients with the most up-to-date information. Working as a nurse at Gundersen Lutheran does not feel like work, rather an honor to be a part of such an extraordinary organization.

Kayla Brion, RN, BSN, Inpatient Psychiatry
I am a Gundersen Lutheran nurse because it is a learning hospital. Education is very important to me and I knew that as a new grad, it would give me the wings I needed to soar into my new profession. As a student nurse in college, I was impressed by the passion, enthusiasm and professionalism that the nurses exhibited during my clinical rotations here. I am proud to say that I belong to hospital that is known and trusted in the community for its commitment to excellence.

Janet Hess, RN, Pediatrics/4West
I knew from my prior employment at Gundersen Lutheran that this was where I wanted to return to care for patients as a nurse. Gundersen Lutheran's mission to excel in patient care and satisfaction matches my personal goals. It's a rewarding feeling to be part of the team providing the top quality patient and family care.

Terry Dorshorst, RN, Critical Care
Because Gundersen Lutheran offers the highest level of critical care in the region, my practice is very challenging. Whether I’m working in the Trauma & Emergency Center or the Intensive Care Unit, I know these patients and their families are counting on me to deliver the highest level of care. Caring for critically ill patients at Gundersen Lutheran is a big responsibility, but one I really enjoy.
