Gundersen Lutheran Behavioral Health offers a full range of mental health and addiction services for children, adolescents, and adults. We offer a multi-disciplinary treatment approach to provide comprehensive assessments and treatment to meet the needs of each patient and his/her family.

Behavioral Health provides a broad range of services for those with mental health, substance abuse issues and specialty services for eating disorders, sexual abuse and assault victims and crime victims. Our staff consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, and non-doctoral level outpatient therapists. We have registered dietitians for eating disorder patients, recreational and occupational therapists, and AODA (Alcohol and Drug Abuse) counselors in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Gundersen Lutheran Behavioral Health - Bringing quality to lifeOur department provides 24-hour emergency service through consultation with the Trauma and Emergency Center and primary and specialty care departments. With the recognition that mental health and AODA issues are an important component of disease management, Behavioral Health partners with other departments such as Oncology, Obstetrics, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Neurology.

Outpatient services are provided in La Crosse, Onalaska, and at sites located throughout the area. By providing outpatient mental health and AODA services at regional locations, we strengthen the continuum of care offered by Gundersen Lutheran Regional Medical Clinics and enhance the connection between Gundersen Lutheran and local communities and can provide the right care as close to home as possible.

Inpatient Services consist of a psychiatric unit on the La Crosse campus, two gender-specific residential facilities for alcohol and substance abuse, and a crisis stabilization facility for the severely and persistently mentally ill.
